Resetting iPads Prohibited
Notice to parents of Riverview Students:

In an effort to provide a safe learning environment and respond to stakeholders’ input,  HCCSC is in the process of reimaging the middle school students’ iPads with more protective and restrictive settings and profile. Most of the Riverview student iPads updates are complete. With this effort nearly completed, we want parents and students to be fully aware that any resetting of the school owned I-pads back to Safari and their old Apps is strictly forbidden by the school.

Students may not change the name of their iPad or make changes to the configuration within the settings, other than what is allowed in our posted policies. If students rename the iPad, or tamper with the profile in an attempt to gain access to another Internet browser other than Mobicip, or to gain access to non-school issued Apps, the student is subject to disciplinary action.  If you have any questions, please contact Mr. Crago or Mr. Dubois.

Blocking Social Media

Striving to meet HCCSC's Mission in the areas of Safe Learning Environment and Stakeholder Satisfaction, HCCSC has taken steps to limit students' access to social media sites, especially for non-instructional purposes. Social media sites like Facebook, MySpace, Friendster, Meetup, Yelp, Match.com, foursquare, Bebo, and Orkut have been blocked from student access at school. Other sites will be added if their usage becomes an issue. HCCSC is also investigating restrictions to iMessage and other texting applications through our File Wave software. HCCSC will re-examine individual sites on a case-by-case basis if there is an instructional need for the site.

If parents want to further restrict their child's access to applications on the iPad, please refer to the Parenting in a Digital World Presentation  PowerPoint presentation link. This PowerPoint includes directions and screenshots on how to set the parental restrictions on the iPad. If you set restrictions on your child's iPad, HCCSC asks that you do not restrict access to the camera and Safari due to instructional uses at school.

HISTORY BOWL CHAMPS!!!

On Saturday, April 13th the Riverview History Bowl Team travelled to the Eugene and Marilyn Glick Indiana History Center in Indianapolis to participate in the 4th annual History Bowl, sponsored by the Indiana Junior Historical Society.  Tournament material was based on Indiana history including topics from people, who said it, things, geography and places, events, and art, literature, and music. After a hard fought, see-saw battle, Riverview returned with the four-peat victory.  Team members from left to right:  Lane Whitted, Brendan Henry, Colton Jagger, Josh Rakoczy, Cassiday Moriarity, Mr. Hoffman, and Alex Ranc.
